SHERIFF SUSAN HUTSON RELEASES TRANSITION REPORT

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Sheriff Susan Hutson released the full Transition Report containing the studies, surveys and recommendations compiled by her Transition Team. The Report contains over 200 recommendations for Sheriff Hutson to implement at the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office; with recommendations organized by (1) First 100 days, (2) First year in office, and (3) First term as Sheriff.

The Transition Team was led by three co-chairs: Prof. Andrea Armstrong, Hon. Calvin Johnson (ret.), and Mr. Flozell Daniels, Jr. They were tasked with three main objectives: (1) to conduct a deep analysis of the state of the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, (2) to compare and assess best practices from other jurisdictions -both state and federal, and (3) to compile in-depth recommendations that would guide Sheriff Hutson and her Administration.

"I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of every person on our Transition Team. This Transition Report represents our community's priorities and vision for their Sheriff's Office and our Criminal Legal System as a whole. I love our community and take my charge and oath to deliver the changes they want to achieve to heart. I pledge to keep our community engaged throughout my tenure in office." – Sheriff Susan Hutson

On Inauguration Day, an Executive Summary of the Report was released. The full Transition Report is the result of structured research, discussions, and deliberations over an unprecedent five-month transition period. Over 150 dedicated volunteers formed six Working Groups to focus on six key areas of Sheriff Hutson's vision to deliver progressive change within the Sheriff's Office: (1) Care, (2) Custody, (3) Control, (4) Civil, (5) Command, and (6) Community.
